AIMS


This unique 2 week course is designed to immerse students in Spanish language, and culture including Art, Literature and History, through class instruction, excursions and cultural acitivities. Curriculum is aimed at providing students with a comprehensive educational learning experience of Spain.

DURATION & CLASS SIZE


The course is 2 weeks long. For accelerated learning, our classes are specifically reduced to 5 to 6 students per class (maximum of 8). This ensures that students have opportunity to actively participate in class and learn what is being taught at a rapid rate.

CURRICULUM


LANGUAGE CLASSES
The course integrates the four language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. In addition to these skills, grammatical structures are emphasized to enable the student to attain communicative proficiency. As learning a language is a dynamic process, aims of this course is for total immersion in the language itself.

Curriculum is specially designed according to the different needs of each level of proficiency and duration of the course. Classwork using everyday topics with communicative teaching methods ensure that students achieve the goals of each course and progress rapidly.

Classtimes:
Each Spanish Language lesson is 55 minutes long. Classes are held from on Mondays to Fridays, from 9:30 to 2:00.

EXCURSIONS & ACTIVITIES
A wide range of places will be visited and activities held to immerse the student in Spanish culture and life. Students are given the proggram in which they choose the places of interest they would like to visit during their travel stay in Spain. An Enforex instructor will accompany all activities. Due to the fact that these activities are programmed monthly, some of the travel sites may be repeated.

Cost of excursions and activities are included in the course fee. They are held in the afternoons during the week.
Overnight accommodation for tours to other cities is not included in course fees.

ELECTIVE WORKSHOPS
Designed to provide a comprehensive curriculum, a range of electives are offered giving students the opportunity to study many different aspects of Spanish culture including history, art, civilisation, literature, cinema, etc.

4 different workshops are offered: HISTORY, LITERATURE ART & CIVILISATION, RADIO, PRESS, DRAMA:
- HISTORY, LITERATURE, ART & CIVILISATION:
Aim: Students will learn how to analyse some of Spain's most well-known writers and artists that reflect Spanish History. Students will also discover the Spanish customs, gastronomy, popular events, etc.
- RADIO WORKSHOP:
Aim: Students will produce their own radio programme based on national and international current affairs.
- PRESS WORKSHOP:
Aim: Students will produce their own newspaper/magazine based on news, cultural events, popular traditions as well as interviews.
- DRAMA WORKSHOP:
Aim: Students will learn how to express themselves using body and verbal communication, using extracts from well-known Spanish plays.

Elective workshop Teaching Hours:
Taught 2 hours a week, the above workshops form part of the course and are compulsory. They are taught by experienced and qualified instructors and held in the afternoons. The workshops encourage the students to actively participate in set activities, thereby further building vocabulary and speaking proficiency. Held on Wednesdays or Fridays from 12.00 to 14.00 or from 15.00 to 17.00.

PLACEMENT TEST & CLASS LEVELS


Non-beginners begin the course by undergoing a written and oral placement test to determine the suitable class level. This test takes place at 9.30 am on the first Monday of the course. As soon as the testing process has been completed, the coursework takes place immediately.

CLASS LEVELS


There are 5 different levels of Spanish: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, Advance and Proficient. All the levels, with the exception of the Proficiency level, are sub-divided into 3 groups containing a higher, medium and lower level.

1. BASIC (BEGINNER): This course is designed for those students who are beginning Spanish for the first time. By the end of the course, students will be able to form some of the basic structures in Spanish and will have a basic knowledge of the Spanish culture and society.

2. ELEMENTARY: This course is designated for those students who already have a previous knowledge of some of the basic structures in Spanish. By the end of the programme, students will have increased their level of grammar and vocabulary so they can express themselves functionally according to the different context. They will also have a greater awareness of Spanish culture and society.

3. INTERMEDIATE: This course is designated for students having a general command of the more complex structures in the Spanish language and a good vocabulary base. By the end of the course, students will be able to use their Spanish more fluently and will have a greater understanding of the Spanish way of life. The course attempts to improve the student's understanding of the linguistic and extra-linguistic structures in Spanish so he/she can communicate more effectively.

4. ADVANCED: This course is designed for students who possess a solid knowledge of Spanish language and culture and are able to perform at the communicative level. By the end of the course, students will have gained a wider knowledge of the Spanish culture and will be more proficient at expressing his/her ideas at an abstract level.

5. PROFICIENCY: This course is designed for those students with a high command of the Spanish language. Special emphasis is placed on perfecting the student's oral and writing skills and also in developing a global perspective of the Spanish culture in relation to the student's particular field of interest.

TEACHERS & TEACHING MATERIALS


Highly qualified and experienced teachers, all of them holders of a degree in teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and additional degrees in specific areas of their teaching for example, Spanish philology, History, Marketing and Tourism.

Perscribed textbooks are provided. Some of the texts used include:
Basic (beginner) & Elementary levels: ELE 1 (SM); GENTE (DIFUSION); USO (EDELSA); RÁPIDO (DIFUSIÓN). Intermediate level: AVANCE (SGEL); MÉTODO DE ESPAÑOL PARA EXTRANJEROS (EDINUMEN). Advanced level: ABANICO (DIFUSION); PUESTA A PUNTO (EDELSA). Proficiency level: CURSO SUPERIOR (SGEL); MÉTODO DE ESPAÑOL PARA EXTRANJEROS (EDINUMEN); PUNTO FINAL (EDELSA); CURSO DE PERFECCIONAMIENTO (SGEL).

TEACHERS & TEACHING MATERIALS


Highly qualified and experienced teachers, all of them holders of a degree in teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and additional degrees in specific areas of their teaching for example, Spanish philology, History, Marketing and Tourism. Teaching materials are all included.

CERTIFICATE


Students completing this course successfully will be granted a diploma, which certifies the type of course, the amount of hours studied, and the achieved level of proficiency. Students will also be provided with a report card, which includes a detailed account of the student's progress according to the specific linguistic skills.

Fees differ according to the Accommodation selected. Course Fees include Tuition, Accommodation, Meals (except shared apartments option) Study materials, All Excursions and Activities, Official Diploma, and Placement Test. Overnight Accommodation is not included in tours to other cities.

A wide range of accommodation options is included in the course program. Course Fees vary depending on the type of accommodation selected. For the privacy and convenience of studnets, all rooms are single occupancy.

REQUIREMENTS


Application is open to all persons who are at least 15 years old and in good health. There are no special requirements.
